She was born on 18th March 1976.in Rio de Janeiro. Giovanna started her careere when she was 14., and then she appeared on Tv. When she got the part of Capitu in ?Lacos de familia?, before the shooting started Giovanna spent two months visiting prostitutes. She says that she realized that they are simple girls like everyone, they dress the same, they go to school and visit elite places.

She says that those girls, just like Capitu are very smart, they have good education and they escort their customers to important lunches, dinners, sex isn`t always needed. After that role Giovanna has play Maria magldalena in theather show ?Jesus Christ Superstar?, and she has played in two movies: ?Bossa nova? with Antonio Fagundes and Fabio Asuncao and ?Pot?injene?.

In her private life she was married to publicist Ricardo Median, and they have known each other since high school. Giovanna is very close with her family, father Ilton Prada ex opera singer, mother Sueli Antonelli ex ballet dancer, brother Leonard who is a lawyer. Her last project was successful telenovela ?O Clone? in which her partner is Murilo Benicio. The big success of this multicultural telenovela was enormous so Giovanna has travelled a lot to promote it togather with Murilo Benicio. The role of young musslim girl Jade in ?O Clone? was very demanding for her, she lernt belly-dancing 6 hours a day. For 2 months so that when she danced it would look like she has it in her blood. Her partner Murilo Benicio was the new love that she had expected for a long time, couple got married and Giovanna became stepmother to Murilo`s 7 year old son from his first marrige.

In 2003, Giovanna played the role of brazilian heroine from Santa Catarina ? Anita Ana Garibaldi, in mini-series ?A Casa Das Sete Mulheres?. That role was very important for her and once again she worked with director Jayme Monjardim, and many great actors like Thiago Lacerda, Dalton Vigh, Daniela Escobar, Camila Morgado and Werner Schonnemann. For four months, while acting Anita Garibaldi, Giovanna patiently read Anita`s biographies and practiclly lived her life. After the shooting ended, Giovanna said that she was glad that she can have a haircut and see herself with a new, modern haircut, the long black hair bored her.In 2004, she acted in telenovela ?Da Cor Do Pecado? with Reynaldo Gianecchini.

In December 2004, Giovanna had a car accident for wich she blaims the photographers who followed her everywhere. On a press conference, which she held after getting out of hospital, she and her husband Murilo Benicio admitted that she is pregnant for a few months. This news was very well receieved between her fans all around the world.
